Menstral health management (MHM) has gained greater attention in recent years. It is now understood as an integrated, cross-sectoral response involving sexual and reproductive health and rights, education and life skills, water, hygiene and sanitation, and waste disposal, both in development and humanitarian contexts. New evidence demonstrates an important step in the pursuit of transformational change with regards to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), worldwide. A Population Council study revealed that the inclusion of gender and power in a CSE curriculum are the two most important factors in predicting its success for improving health outcomes. Innovative, feminist-friendly approaches to monitoring and evaluating CSE programs are important tools for organizations as we continue building on established research and achieving future success with regards to CSE. …

Throughout the world, many adolescent reproductive health professionals, schools, clinics and other youth serving organizations have developed and implemented a wide variety of sex and STI/HIV education programs to reduce unintended pregnancy and STIs among young people. Some of these programs are based on a written curriculum and are implemented with groups of young people. These programs are particularly well designed to be implemented in schools, where they can potentially reach large numbers of youth. …
The tools discussed were intended to be designed for, and implemented primarily in health care settings. However, caution was urged during the consultation meeting that those activities should not be disconnected from other strategies, social services, and outreach programs, but rather an integral part of them; and the Regional Consultation focused mainly on gay and other MSM as the points of reference for MSM communities. …
Addressing Homophobia in Relation to HIV/AIDS in Aboriginal Communities (AHRHAAC) is a project of the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN). AHRHAAC was created to look at how organizations serving Aboriginal people can help to create supportive and nonjudgmental environments for two-spirit people living with HIV/AIDS through the development of policies that address homophobia and by raising awareness in Aboriginal communities on how to address homophobia when it is a barrier to HIV/AIDS prevention and education. …
Young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people across Europe face discrimination and exclusion in their everyday life. They experience estrangement from family, bullying and marginalisation at school, which can lead to such problems as underachievement and school drop-out, low self-esteem and mental ill-health. These in turn have a negative impact on the capacity of young LGBT people to manage the transition from school to work and to become confident and independent adults who can contribute to society. …
Connections is an adolescent and parent programme that helps girls and their mothers to become more confident and comfortable to talk about gender, relationships and sex. The programme provides information and life-skills around issues including puberty, growing up, relationships, dating, sexuality, pregnancy prevention, gender rights, alcohol use and parent-to-adolescent communications. The programme covers both the biological aspects of sex, and broader relational aspects such as peer and romantic relationships, love, reproduction, gender rights, HIV, risk-taking and peer influence. …
The Sex Education Forum is a unique collaboration of diverse organisations representing children, parents, faith, disability, health and education. We believe thatáall children and young people are entitled to high quality sex and relationships education (SRE), which includes learning about HIV and AIDS. The House of Lords began an ad-hoc Select Committee on HIV and AIDS in the United Kingdom in January 2011 and is due to report in July 2011. One of the things the committee is investigating is whether education about HIV and AIDS is adequate and how to improve it. …
