Anupama Sekhar is currently the Director of the Culture Department at the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and works on artistic collaborations, support to networks, policy dialogues and information platforms. She is actively engaged in facilitating cultural exchange and collaboration among artists and arts organizations in 53 countries in Asia and Europe. Her work aims to stimulate analysis and engagement in the arts in Asia and Europe, as well as channelling policy ideas for the Culture Ministers’ meeting at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). She is the editor of “Enabling Crossovers: Good Practices in the Creative Industries” (Singapore, ASEF, 2015) and “Mapping Cultural Diversity: Good Practices from Around the Globe” (Bonn/Singapore, German Commission for UNESCO and ASEF, 2010). Anupama is a member of the U40 group of young cultural policy experts, launched by the German Commission for UNESCO and supported by the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity. She holds degrees in English Literature and International Studies. She is also a trained dancer in the Indian classical style of Bharatanatyam. Prior to joining ASEF, Anupama worked with the United Nations and in the arts sector in India.
