Schools have been identified as one of the appropriate settings for addiction prevention since this is the place where pupils may come into contact with drugs for the first time and experiment with them, with the possibility of becoming addicted. To be effective, school-based drug education must be firmly based on knowledge of oneself and knowledge of the effects of various addictive substances. ONE has prepared this accountability report to monitor progress made towards the beginning of the end of AIDS. Specifically, the report tracks progress made on three key targets–the virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission, 15 million people on treatment, and the drastic reduction of new HIV infections–and assesses the political, programmatic, and financial contributions made by a variety of stakeholders (traditional donors, African leadership, emerging economies, and the NGO/private sectors).
This report explores three countries’ responses to one aspect of LGBT marginalization—school harassment of LGBT youth. In particular, the authors studied the policies and programs of the United States, Germany and Brazil in an effort to identify lessons learned that could help ameliorate school harassment of LGBT youth and create the beginnings of a 3Rs movement to end homophobia and transphobia and the negative impact they have on young people. This article describes Germany's approach to youth sex education. It starts with a discussion of the fact that sex education is viewed as a national responsibility, then goes into findings of the 2005 youth scientific foundation study on youth sexuality related to sex education at home and in the family; sex education in schools: widespread and well-received; first sexual intercourse; contraception andáuse of the media. The study concludes by saying that a clear relationships exists between sex education at home and positive contraceptive behavior. …

Under the umbrella of Joint HIV Mainstreaming in German Development Cooperation the implementing agencies GTZ, ded, InWent, KfW and the German Embassy in Tanzania held their First joint HIV Mainstreaming Day for national Personnel on 7th August 2009 in Dar es Salaam. The main focus of the meeting was on learning more about the implementation of HIV Workplace Programmes (WPP) and discussing different aspects of HIV Policies, such as the importance of equal rights and employment opportunities.
