The purpose of this workshop is to raise awareness among World Heritage site managers regarding the use of the IUCN/UNESCO Enhancing Our Heritage (EoH) toolkit, in particular test its applicability for cultural sites.

The meeting is organized by Denmark's Cultural Heritage Agency in cooperation with NWHF. The target group is World Heritage site managers from Nordic countries including Greenland.

Managers should leave the workshop with:

  • A clear understanding of UNESCO requirements for managing a World Heritage site, and what is required of a management plan for a World Heritage site
  • An awareness of the tools available (particularly EoH) which can be used to help develop management plans
  • Appreciation of how management planning approaches differ for natural and cultural sites
  • Understanding of how management planning can/should be integrated with national systems for legal protection and management.
