Julieth on the move

Julieth on the move image

From: Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

In: Beirut, Lebanon

Education Level: First Year of Higher Education

Age: 21

Julieth is a freshman on a full scholarship to The American University of Beirut, who hopes to major in engineering next year. After her 4 year degree she wants to return to Tanzania. Julieth had always dreamt of studying abroad. The high school she attended (where she was also on a full scholarship) gave her a lot of help with her application for the AUB scholarship, she is very grateful to the school and her mother for all the support she received.  She misses her family, Tanzanian food, the weather, the warmth and kindness of the people and being familiar with her surroundings. She has already encountered some racist attitudes in Lebanon, but has quickly begun to make new friendships in Beirut.
