Enghien-les-Bains will host the Network’s XI Annual Meeting in 2017
Enghien-les-Bains (France), designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts in 2013, has been chosen by the member cities to host the Network’s XI Annual Meeting.
Following the online vote – launched in February and opened to the Cities designated before 2015 – to select the Host City of the 2017 UNESCO Creatives Cities Network (UCCN) Annual Meeting, the results are today unveiled: Enghien-les-Bains will be the city hosting the 2017 UCCN Annual Meeting from 29 June to 2 July 2017.
The UCCN Secretariat wish to warmly congratulate Enghien-les-Bains as well as to express its deep appreciation to both of the two candidate cities that have proposed a bid, Enghien-les-Bains (France) and Fabriano (Italy), for their lasting commitment to the Network and for responding to all the requirements stipulated in the Host City Selection Criteria, approved by the member cities at the 9th UCCN Annual Meeting (Kanazawa, Japan, May 2015).
Enghien-les-Bains is pleased to welcome you in 2017 to nurture the ties and the spirit of our Creative Cities. – Philippe Sueur, Mayor of Enghien-les-Bains
According to Philippe Sueur, Mayor of Enghien-les-Bains, the XI UCCN Annual Meeting will give the opportunity “to nurture the ties and the spirit of [the] Creative Cities” which is one of the main objectives of the UCCN Annual Meeting, as being a key platform for dialogue between the Cities and UNESCO by covering strategic objectives and operations as well as by fostering exchange of information and experiences. The UCCN Annual Meeting is thus a unique opportunity where Cities are gathered to envisage innovative modalities to integrate creativity and culture at the core of sustainable urban development, mainly through international cooperation.
Following this announcement, Enghien-les-Bains will make its presentation at the 2016 Annual Meeting to be held from 14 to 16 September in Östersund (Sweden).
