“Datum” by Norimichi Hirakawa: a glimpse of 2017 Sapporo International Art Festival
From 16 to 19 February, Sapporo, a Creative City of Media Arts, is holding an outdoor exhibition displaying the work of the emerging media artist Norimichi Hirakawa, at Moerenuma Park, which will be hosting the 2017 Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF) in a few months. Entitled “Datum”, the art installation brings city dwellers to multi-dimensional experience through a skillful calculation of images and sounds.
In parallel of the exhibition, Akihiro Kubota, Director of ARTSAT x SIAF Lab, will give a lecture on “Media Arts today” as well as undertake a discussion with Norimichi Hirakawa and Aya Tsuboi from Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe, around the theme “Media Art as Art & Sciences”.
The event, held at the same time of Sapporo Asian Winter Games, is led by the office of Creative City Promotion and managed by the Sapporo International Art Festival Executive Committee, in cooperation with Sapporo Foundation for Greener Parks, Prism Co., Ltd., and Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio, and supported by Project to Support the Nurturing of Media Arts Creators.
