UNESCO's Multisectoral Regional Office for West Africa-Sahel and the ECOWAS Secretariat are jointly organizing a workshop on national qualifications frameworks in the countries of the region from 7 to 8 November 2019.
The Senegalese Minister of Employment, Vocational Training and Handicrafts, Dame Diop, launched on 5 November 2019, the project to support the development of skills and entrepreneurship of young people, which will result in the training of 2000 young people in the hydrocarbon trades.
At the end of the workshop on the Investment Programme for Vocational Training and Technical Education on Thursday 17 October 2019 in Libreville, the participants made several recommendations for improving the performance of Gabon's vocational training centres.
On 3 and 4 October 2019, the 1st edition of the National Meetings on Vocational Training and Business Creation, organised jointly by Expertise France and the Ministry of Youth and the Promotion of Youth Entrepreneurship, with the support of the European Union, will take place at the National Centre for Performing and Audiovisual Arts (CENASA).
From 17 to 19 July, the first meeting of experts is being held in Cotonou in the run-up to the 10th conference of the Consultation Framework for Ministers in charge of Employment and Vocational Training in the Uemoa region. The work was officially launched by the Beninese Minister of Secondary, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Mahougnon Kakpo, current President of the consultation framework.
On Friday, 21 June 2019, the economic capital of Morocco hosted the first edition of the African Vocational Training Summit, at the initiative of the African Alliance for the Development of Vocational Training. More than twenty countries from the continent attended the event during which an action plan was put in place to address the challenges of youth skills training and employability through a common African vision.
The Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training intends, in collaboration with the national private sector, to fight unemployment by working to create sustainable jobs.
In order to measure the external effectiveness of the vocational training system and provide better support for the professional integration of trainees, the Ministry of National Education, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (MENETFP), through the Directorate of Apprenticeship and Professional Integration (DAIP), has set up a monitoring system for trainees.
