القاهرة

مكتب اليونسكو في القاهرة، الذي أنشئ في عام 1947م، يعمل ضمن منظومة تتكون من 52 مكتباً ميدانياً منتشرة في جميع أنحاء العالم، وهو يعمل حالياً على مستوى جميع الدول العربية في مجال العلوم والتكنولوجيا.  

بالإضافة الى هذا، فإنه يلعب دوراً على المستوى شبه الإقليمي في المنطقة العربية لكل من دول مصر والسودان و ليبيا في مجالات التربية والعلوم والثقافة والاتصال.  

وعلى غرار جميع المكاتب الميدانية لليونسكو وغيرها من الوحدات، يتولى مكتب القاهرة المساهمة في دعم ثقافة السلام والأمن في العالم من خلال تعزيز التعاون الفكري بين الأمم بالاستعانة بآليات التعليم والعلوم والثقافة والاتصال.

The Regional Bureau supports Arab member states, individually and collectively, to establish policies, action plans, partnerships, and alliances that facilitate: enhanced access to knowledge diffusion mechanisms; the bridging of technological gaps; the adoption of proven technologies; and the acceleration of building human and institutional capacities in relevant fields.

The Bureau focuses its support on areas of science and technology that are identified as most essential for the realization of the sustainable development agenda in the Arab region.

Mainstreaming knowledge and the advancement of science, together with enhancing the utility of ICT in knowledge transfer are integral components of this strategy.
