The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to programme designers, implementers, policy and decision-makers on how to meaningfully engage adolescents in the AIDS response and broader health programming, and to demonstrate why adolescents and youth are critical in efforts to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030. It also highlights what steps should be taken to implement programmes and policies that improve adolescent health outcomes (including for HIV) at the national, regional and global levels.
Social protection is high on the HIV-prevention agenda for youth in sub-Saharan Africa. However, questions remain: How do unconditional cash transfers work? What is the effect of augmenting cash provision with social care? And can “cash plus care” social protection reduce risks for adolescents most vulnerable to infection? This study tackles these questions by first identifying mediated pathways to adolescent HIV risks and then examining potential main and moderating effects of social protection in South Africa.

This five-year costed National Plan of Action addresses the survival, protection, care and support needs of the most vulnerable children in Nigeria. It was developed through consultative and participatory approaches among all stakeholders, including adults and children. The voices of children were heard, and their contributions were taken into account.
