    Este trabajo refleja la experiencia llevada a cabo durante el año 2002 por la Asociación Civil Intercambios, con población adolescente de la zona del partido de Avellaneda donde se desarrolla un programa de reducción de daños desde 1999. Tuvo como objetivo desarrollar actividades de prevención y capacitación acerca del VIH y otras infecciones de transmisión sexual, así como de prevención de los problemas asociados con el uso de drogas.   8. Families and children affected by HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable children in Papua New Guinea: a national situation analysis

    This study provides an overview of the situation of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS, and of other vulnerable children. Its purpose is to assist the Government, civil society organisations and development partners in the development of policies and programmes for on-going support, and in the monitoring of community-based assistance to families and children affected by HIV/AIDS. The study is a joint project of the Department for Community Development and the National AIDS Council, supported by civil society organisations and UNICEF.

    In 2008 the number of African women who died from pregnancy and child birth was much higher than the number of casualties from all the major conflicts in Africa combined. Maternal mortality continues to be the major cause of death among women of reproductive age (15-49) in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This report looks at the performance of sub Saharan African countries in meeting reproductive health targets in 47 countries and ranks them using a set of ten indicators in order of the highest to lowest risk. …

  12. It's Time to Talk About Sex: Sexual Rights are Essential to Achieving the MDGs

    Share-Net recently hosted a meeting encouraging participants to talk about sex. Specifically, it examined the connections between sexual rights and each of the MDGs. The meeting involved Share-Net's members (experts in SRHR and HIV/AIDS) but also experts from other MDG areas who shared insights from their own fields.   13. Promoting and protecting the health of orphans and vulnerable children in Monkey Bay, Malawi

    Malawi has had a rising population of orphans and vulnerable children who are reported to lack care, food, educational opportunities and adult role models.   15. Service providers working together to help children in the time of HIV and AIDS

    The combined effects of HIV and AIDS and poverty make many children vulnerable. Through their work, teachers, health workers, home-based carers, community workers, volunteers and social workers come into regular contact with children. These service providers recognise that this puts them in a unique position to identify vulnerable children, and where necessary, connect them up with other services. This booklet highlights some of the ways service providers in South Africa are responding to the many children in need.
