UNESCO IITE and Nisai Group join efforts to promote SDGs in schools

On 27 August 2019, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) signed a Project Agreement with Nisai Group (UK).

The signing procedure concluded the formal meeting of Dr Dhruv Patel, CEO and Founder of Nisai Group, with Mr Tao Zhan, Director of UNESCO IITE, and Ms Natalia Amelina, Chief of the Unit of Teacher Professional Development and Networking at UNESCO IITE.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the promising avenues and modalities of cooperation geared to enrich content of education and encourage ICT-driven and skill-based learning in schools. The signed Project Agreement confirmed the intentions of the Parties to collaborate in generating social, particularly educational benefits, for communities and thus, in meeting the challenges and commitments of the universal Sustainable Development Goals.

The common UNESCO IITE – Nisai initiative is focused on enabling social and educational inclusion of students, ensuring access to information and educational materials by all means of ICT, and concurrently, promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within schools.

In line with the UNESCO IITE – Nisai cooperation, a 6-10 week course dedicated to the research of the SDGs, relating each goal to real life situations, has been designed. Students will be given the opportunity to investigate ways in which the goals link with each other, including their impact on modern life and the effective ways of fulfilling the globally-recognized objectives. Across the project, students will obtain the opportunity to develop their skills in English and Mathematics, using the SDGs as the foundation to stimulating and efficient learning.

As part of this initiative, UNESCO IITE and Nisai Group will also explore opportunities for cooperation in various countries worldwide, with a special focus on CIS and Asia Pacific regions.
