#GWEPrize UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education Stefania Giannini and Vice Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xuejun Tian, awarded the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education to the two laureates during a ceremony at UNESCO’s Headquarters on 11 October 2019 during the annual celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
This year, the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education recognized Sulá Batsú of Costa Rica for their Project ‘Voices of Central American Girls’, and the Department of Education of Navarre, Spain for their project ‘SKOLAE: Growing in Equality’. The UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education honours outstanding contributions advancing girls’ and women’s education. Established in 2015 and generously funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Prize is annually granted to two laureates and consists of an award of US$ 50,000 each.
