Caribbean Forum on Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities to Accelerate Sustainable Development for Human Progress
The Forum will present a space in which participants can reflect on new opportunities and challenges of Artificial Intelligence in the digital age and the role that can be played to stimulate economic growth and job creation, both at the national and regional levels, but in particular, Caribbean SIDS.
The UNESCO Cluster Office for the Caribbean in collaboration with the Information for All Programme (IFAP) in the Communication and Information Sector and the Government of Jamaica is organizing the Forum on Artificial Intelligence, for the 18 - 19 February 2020. The event will be aligned with the United Nations Multi-Country Sustainable Development Framework (UN-MSDF) for the Caribbean and the UNESCO Special Initiative for the Caribbean (SPIC). Artificial Intelligence can be used to address many of humanities critical social issues, including those mentioned in Agenda 2020. The Forum is therefore expected to explore the potential of AI in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Member States of the Caribbean sub-region, civil society, private sector and academia will us the Forum as a platform to look at ways in which they can improve the quality of life of citizens of the Caribbean, building technologies resilience and strengthening of technological infrastructure to ensure that CARICOM Member States are innovative and globally competitive.
