This year, the Education World Forum (EWF) opened with a highly anticipated Education Fast Forward debate, which featured Mmantsetsa Marope, Director of the IBE, and Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills, OECD.
Titled “From Global Competence to National Success”, the debate addressed the links between global competence and individual and national success. Dr. Marope also presented in a keynote session on “Policy for Curriculum and Competences in the 4th Industrial Revolution”. She highlighted the IBE’s work on future competences and discussed the key role that curriculum should play in individual and national development.
Held in London, the Education World Forum is the world’s largest gathering of education and skills ministers. The Forum’s theme for 2018 is “Preparing Students for Success: Thinking, Doing, Well-being & Learning: Education Policy-making for the 4th Industrial Revolution”.
