It signals the limits of high level international commitments to education and HIV and the strategies of information-giving and life skills development adopted in their wake. It argues for the adoption of a more genuinely educational approach to HIV, sex, and sexuality education in which difficult questions are raised, diversity is recognized, and options are provided for a differentiated yet effective response. …
The Student Partnership Worldwide (SPW) South Africa Trust in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) leads the Safe Guard Young People (SYP) Programme in three districts in the Eastern Cape. This report identifies bills from state legislatures across the country (introduced through May 31, 2018) and highlights notable activity related to either advancing or restricting progress toward comprehensive sexuality education. SIECUS analyzed 139 bills and found that seventy-eight percent sought to improve sexuality education in public schools.
