Véronique Guèvremont

Véronique Guèvremont is a professor at the Faculty of Law and the Quebec Institute for Advanced International Studies at Laval University (Quebec, Canada), where she holds the UNESCO Chair on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. A graduate of University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, she has been teaching international law for culture and international economic law since 2006. From 2003 to 2005, she was an associate expert in UNESCO’s division of cultural policies during the negotiations of the 2005 Convention. In 2008, she co-founded, with professor Ivan Bernier, the International Network of Jurists for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (RIJDEC) and has since conducted several studies with members of this network. In recent years, she has collaborated with UNESCO, the International Organization of La Francophonie, the Quebec Ministry of International Relations and the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications. Her most recent research and publications focus on the treatment of cultural goods and services in trade agreements, the preservation of the diversity of cultural expressions in the digital age, and the cultural dimension of sustainable development.
