To continue progress of the International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities − ICCAR and to advance prior commitments, the Global Steering Committee (GSC) of the Coalition will assemble at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, on 30 October 2019.

The meeting will focus on:
- Outlining a roadmap of action to review the current Ten-Point Plans of Action in order to align with the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
- Building strategic partnerships and mobilizing resources to expand the reach of ICCAR’s programmes while also encouraging the exchange of competences and expertise among stakeholders.
- Defining its role in the UNESCO Cities Platform.

The Global Steering Committee was established in April 2016, following its first meeting organized by UNESCO and hosted by the City of Bologna, Italy, lead city of the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR).

The City of Nancy, France, hosted a meeting of the Committee on 10 December 2018 in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The two meetings resulted in the adoption of the “Bologna Declaration” and the “Nancy Declaration”, both highlighting the crucial need for joint city cooperation to advance the fight against racism and discrimination.
