This MOST School will focus on the issue of inequalities in the Central American region, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and with emphasis on some selected SDGs. UNESCO will partner with the University of Panama for its realization.

Activities will include lectures, plenary debates, expert panels, and a research and policy workshop, in which school participants will present and analyze research papers and government experiences. They are articulated around the central axis of the link between research and policy-making.

UNESCO's Management of Social Transformation (MOST) Programme seeks to support States in improving their public policy processes, strengthening the link between scientific knowledge and the development of policies for social transformation. Its strategy is aligned with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to social transformations, with an emphasis on social inclusion, reduction of inequalities and poverty eradication.

In this context, MOST Schools are capacity-building activities focused on strengthening the competencies for evidence-informed decision-making in Member States. They help develop the capacity of researchers and decision-makers to translate knowledge into action. Their primary goal is to support long-term sustainable development in contexts where capacity gaps may be a major constraint to translating research into action.
