Inauguration of UNESCO Chair on Cultural Policy at Istanbul Bilgi University

On 21 September 2018, UNESCO will inaugurate a new Chair in Cultural Policy and Cultural Diplomacy at the Instanbul Bilgi University (Turkey).

The UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme was created in 1992 to promote international inter-university cooperation and networking and to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge sharing and collaborative work. Through this network, higher education and research institutions from all corners of the globe can share resources, both human and material, and contribute to bridging the gap between academia, civil society, local communities, research and policy-making.

There are currently over 80 UNESCO chairs working in culture and eight working specifically on the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

The event will be opened by Dr. Ege Yazgan, Instanbul Bilgi University Deputy Rector and will include the participation of Assoc. Prof. Serhan Ada, UNESCO Chairholder at Instanbul Bilgi University, Dr. Wolfgang Schneider, University of the Arts Rector in Belgrade, and Dr. Milena Dracigovic-Sesic, Founding Director the Institute of Cultural Politics at University of Hildesheim.
