Cultural Industries in the Maghreb

 

The UNESCO Office in Rabat and ALECSO are organizing a meeting in Tunis, from 26 to 28 March 2019, to discuss the development of creative industries in the Maghreb.

Thematic round tables will be organized around the launch of the UNESCO Global Report “Re|Shaping Cultural Policies”, with a focus on gender equality in the creative industries and creativity in the era of digital platforms. The launch of the report will be held on 26 March at 7:00 pm at the Liber'Thé Cultural Café, where many civil society actors are used to performing, whether in the field of music, literature or the arts.

The representatives of the countries participating in this meeting (Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, Tunisia) will start discussions on the implementation of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005) and policies on the governance of culture.

Various UNESCO programmes (Creative Cities Network, International Fund for Cultural Diversity, IFCD) will also be discussed to strengthen cooperation mechanisms with the Maghreb countries.
