Round Table on "Legal Mobility: towards a Culture of Peace to co-define development"
As part of the 40th General Conference, the Permanent Delegations of Mali, Italy, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Equatorial Guinea, in collaboration with UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Program and the Sahel Vert Association, are organizing a round table following the Global Compact for Migration. This round table will focus on the theme "Legal mobilities: towards a Culture of Peace to co-define development" and will take place from 1:30 pm to 2:45 pm in Room IV.
While acknowledging the importance of questions regarding migration and a culture of peace, UNESCO and Sahel Vert propose to engage a debate on the theme "Legal mobility: towards a Culture of Peace to co-define the development " in order to:
- Overcome tensions around the conceptual notion of population movements, by taking into account unavoidable paradigm shifts (climate transitions, demographic transitions, sustainable development, etc.),- to build legal mobility routes, through experiments, carried out by voluntary countries, based on alternations, supervised by a status of "cooperating trainer",- to set up support for these experiments by a dedicated research laboratory.
The issue at hand is about sharing experiences and seizing the opportunity to develop the necessary understanding around the concept of mobility, as a carrier of culture of peace.By organizing this conference, the initiators aim to open the debate on the social values of tolerance and understanding in order to allow people to cohabit without major clashes and to resist the different forms of extremism, and stereotypes of which the 21st century is victim, as well as on proposals for experiments included in a scientific research approach.
