On March 21 2019, in the occasion of World Poetry Day, 15 UNESCO Cities of Literature across the globe were linking up to hold simultaneous events in their respective cities. For instance, around 60 poets who live in Granada and possess different aesthetic approaches, offered a public poetry reading in 25 bookshops around the city.
The World Poetry Day that will be held on March 21st , is an international celebration launched by UNESCO in 1999  with the aim to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to increase protect endangered languages. Today, World Poetry Day is the occasion to honour poets and celebrate one of humanity’s most treasured forms of cultural and linguistic expression.
The “Osip Mandelstam: Word and Destiny” book is the fruit of the very first collaboration between the Creative Cities of Literature of Heidelberg and Granada, in cooperation with the State Literary Museum of Moscow. This joint-project has been initiated in the framework of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam, who was one of the foremost members of the Acmeist school of poets. The book is available in a bilingual version, in German and Spanish.
