A driver of Resilience, Recovery and Reconciliation
Rebuilding the city’s places of learning, and social and intellectual exchange, creates an opportunity to infuse new life into civic engagement, skills development and economic activity. This will be achieved through:
- Significant investments in access to quality education and skills development. The reconstruction programme is a genuinely participatory endeavour benefiting the local population, in particular its youth.
- Cultural heritage and living heritage revitalization, restoration and reconstruction as an opportunity to develop skilled labour. The salvaging and documenting of elements first, followed by reconstruction using traditional techniques and expertise, will create job opportunities for young people. Community-based inventorying of living heritage will serve as a catalyst for recreating a sense of belonging and fostering mutual understanding.
