World Press Freedom Day 2019

Wynne Musabayana is Head of Communication at the African Union Commission. She has experience in corporate communications and in the broadcast media, where she is a former award winning presenter. She is keen on redefining the African narrative under Agenda 2063, and has organised and/ or conducted media capacity building programmes, including the AU-FES media project.

She edits major AU publications i.e. the AU ECHO, the AU Handbook and the newly launched AU Monthly Bulletin. She has published articles and produced a number of videos promoting African development efforts. Currently she is developing a communications guide for elections coverage.  

She has participated in and spoken at many high level conferences and was a signatory to the African Platform on Access to Information Declaration. As a former international consultant, she has worked for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Labour Organisation, the UN Economic Commission for Africa and the UN Population Fund: in Zimbabwe, Switzerland and Ethiopia. Currently she is an advisory board member of Africa Communications Week.

Wynne is a published author, having contributed to Township Girls- an anthology of young girls growing up in pre-independence Zimbabwe. She holds a BSC Sociology Honours Degree, a Diploma in Public Relations and a Master of Arts Degree in Journalism Studies.
