Sylvère Boris Nzigou Nzigou (sb.nzigou-nzigou@unesco.org)The UNESCO Libreville Office organized a two-day workshop on 26 and 27 November 2019 on e-learning training and artificial intelligence in order to raise awareness on the ethical issues related to artificial intelligence and challenges of artificial intelligence in terms of maximizing its potential as a development agent.
The workshop will present the concept of artificial intelligence, its field of competence and its distinction from other categories of emerging technologies. The event will also analyze the ethical aspects of Artificial Intelligence, according to UNESCO's fields of competence, namely education, science, culture and communication. Specific attention will be given to the ethical and global dimensions based on peace, cultural diversity, gender equality and sustainability. The event is convened by the Gabon IFAP Committee and is a follow-up to the March 2019 IFAP Bureau meeting that underscored the important role of National IFAP Committees in serving as an avenue for the transfer of knowledge and expertise from the international to the national level. National IFAP Committees work closely with the National Commission for UNESCO and cooperate with other UNESCO national coordination frameworks in the sphere of communication and information.
