Regional Programme

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation have been established in 2000 to recognize the achievement of individuals and organizations within the private sector, and public-private initiatives, in successfully restoring structures of heritage value in the region.

The Award of Excellence for Handicrafts programme
(formerly known as Seal of Excellence for Handicrafts) was jointly established by UNESCO and the ASEAN Handicraft Promotion and Development Association (AHPADA) in 2001 to encourage craft-workers to use traditional skills and materials to ensure the perpetuation of traditional knowledge and preserve cultural diversity, while promoting innovations to keep the products relevant and competitive.
