Education for All

Education is a fundamental human right and an enabling right. Through SDG 4-Education 2030, UNESCO try to ensure that every individuals will not be left behind on Education. Every children, youth and adult should have the same opportunity to achieve relevant and recognized functional literacy and numeracy proficiency levels.

Struggle on education development starts years ago by many anonymous “education heroes” from all over the world. And in 1990, The EFA (Education for All) initiative first agreed by 155 Governments (including Government of Indonesia), UN Agencies, INGOs and development partners in Jomtien, Thailand. This, we can call, worldwide movement then reiterated in 2000 in Dakar, Senegal. But the goals was not entirely achieved by the year 2015, which then lead to us to the new target: Sustainable Development Goals.

SDG 4-Education 2030, as continuation of EFA 2015, takes into account lessons learned since 2000. Its focus on increased and expanded access, inclusion and equity, quality and learning outcomes at all levels.
