CULTURE

UNESCO’s Santiago office develops and supports initiatives that foster creativity and learning through culture, thus contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Culture Area promotes the value of diversity, the culture of human rights and peaceful coexistence as the basis for sustainable development. The entity’s work is focused on the safeguarding of cultural heritage, recognition and respect for the diversity of cultural expressions, and the promotion of arts and culture for social change. In particular, its activities focus on the integration of heritage, the arts and cultural diversity in education.

Taking into account the intersections between education and culture, we seek to open a fruitful dialogue between Chile’s authorities, specialists, educators, artists, cultural experts, mediators and cultural agents and stakeholders from other Latin American and Caribbean countries regarding cultural policies that highlight the opportunities that cultures, the arts and heritage offer to the region's educational systems.
