Creating an enabling environment in which all cultural expressions may be affirmed in their rich creative diversity, renewed through exchanges and partnerships, and made accessible to all, is today a central issue on the agenda of South-East Europe.
As a follow-up to the successful ratification process of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, assisting Member States of the region in promoting cultural diversity effectively and monitoring cultural change is now of necessity.

Interesting facts
Romania was the first country in Europe to ratify UNESCO’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, in July 2006.
