A needs assessment of secondary schools revealed underlying challenges, and opportunities to strengthen science education through a holistic approach. As part of this approach, UNESCO introduced Micro-Science Kits (MSK) in 180 secondary schools without laboratories, while supporting teacher tutors in zonal training colleges to ensure they are used effectively.  UNESCO is also supporting training for teachers on the effective teaching of science subjects to strengthen quality and performance in the long term.
