Thank you for your interest in the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, after consultations with the Government of Germany, we regret to inform you that the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, which was planned to be held from 2 to 4 June 2020 in Berlin, Germany, is postponed until further notice.

We will share the new dates through the ESD newsletter as soon as they are confirmed and further updates will also be available on the Conference website.

About

  • Our planet and its inhabitants are under increasing pressure: Human-induced climate change, limited and recklessly exploited resources, rising temperatures and sea levels, pollution and shrinking biodiversity are just a few of the issues governments and populations face around the world.

  • The Conference will raise awareness of these challenges, highlight the crucial role of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as a key enabler for the successful achievement of all SDGs, and create momentum for strengthening ESD in policy and practice.

When and where?

The conference is organized by UNESCO in cooperation with and generously supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany, and with the German Commission for UNESCO as advisory partner.

Participation

Participation to the conference is by invitation only.

All UNESCO Member States will be invited to attend the event and nominate a delegation including participants from diverse backgrounds.

In addition, UNESCO launched a call for proposals for other stakeholders to be invited, including policy-makers working in education and sustainable development, education practitioners, civil society, development community and private sector experts to propose booth and session concepts.
