    The study examined the implementation of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in Irish postprimary schools. This research is the most comprehensive study of relationships and sexuality education conducted in Ireland to date. This study sought to capture the factors that have helped and hindered the implementation of RSE since the programme was first introduced to post-primary schools in 1995. The findings of this study are vital to informing future educational policy with regard to the teaching and resourcing of RSE in second-level schools. …

  6. Guidelines: children living in the context of HIV and AIDS

    The guidelines are intended for use by Irish Aid staff working on poverty alleviation, risk and vulnerability, health, education and HIV issues in country programmes and at regional and HQ levels. They should serve as a guide for policy dialogue and to inform engagement with country governments, regional bodies, other donors, multilateral agencies and NGOs.     This issue of journal is about reproductive rights, advocacy and changing the law. Papers on abortion cover the role of political parties and political process in changing the law, the role of feminists and doctors in efforts to get hospitals in the context of restrictive law, and efforts to get nurses and other health workers to confront their own prejudices against abortion in order to make service provision women-centred. Two papers delve into the meaning of reproductive health and rights and the role of advocacy in implementing changes in reproductive health law, policies and services.
