Documentary film training in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

 

From 7 to 10 October 2019, training for young professionals in the field of film industry entitled "Fundamentals of Documentary Film Art" will be held in Tashkent.

Documentary films play an important role in the development as well as protection of contemporary arts, culture and human values, echoing UNESCO’s Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

The workshop, organized by the UNESCO Office in Tashkent, is aimed at transferring knowledge and providing practical trainings in the field of documentary film production. The participants of the training are students and teachers from the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, students of the "FOCUS" Film School as well as independent young professionals working in the field of documentary film.

Mr. Maciej Drygas, a Polish documentary filmmaker and a teacher at the Lodz Film School who authored "Voice of Hope" (2002), "One Day in Poland" (2006) and "Abu Kharaz" (2013) will conduct the training.

During the intensive four-day training, the participants will learn the peculiarities of documentary films including the effective use of archival materials, various methods of filming and compelling ways to pitch an idea.

The training is held as part of the UNESCO project Strengthening cultural and creative industries in Lao PDR, Uzbekistan and Rwanda launched in 2017 with financial support from the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
