As part of the #DontGoViral campaign launched by UNESCO in partnership with the Innovation for Policy Foundation (i4Policy), young artist Salim M'ze Hamadi Moissi (Big Seush) worked with his team of talented hip hop dancers; B-Boy Sangoku and B-Boy Kama from Compagnie Tcheza. They came up with a hip hop dance video named “Stop COVID-19” aiming at teaching the youth in Comoros good health practices during this crisis.
“Till this day there have been no confirmed cases in my country, Comoros. However, we need to take precautions to avoid the worst. This involves putting into practice the instructions from local authorities and the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). Each of us can act within their own means, I chose dance because it is visual and effective in demonstrating physical distancing. The Comorian population is predominantly young, and so, holding their attention with hip hop dancing will be more effective in conveying safety instructions. This will also encourage them to relay the message produced and interpreted by Comorian artists they can identify themselves with.” -Seush
