Key objectives of the measure:

Including the provisions on culture into the basic Ukraine-EU partnership document was cause by the intention to promote international cooperation between individuals and institutions, contacts between people; promote intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity; develop cultural and creative industries; preserve and actualize the cultural heritage.

Main feature of the measure:

The UA-EU Association Agreement entered into force in 2017. Chapter 24 “Culture” of the Agreement contains general provisions on enhanced cooperation in the cultural and audio-visual policy areas. A particular focus is placed on fostering the development of cultural industries in the EU and in Ukraine in the context of proper implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions of 2005, as both Ukraine and EU are the parties to the Convention. To implement the Agreement a number of programmes and initiatives that support the development of the cultural sector in Ukraine and enable it to engage more effectively with cultural organisations and operators in the EU become possible. The activities include international mobility support schemes, national and international cultural cooperation projects, as well as training sessions and study visits to the EU member states

Results expected through the implementation of the measure:

Development of culture policy with regard to EU strategic documents, enhanced international mobility and cultural exchanges are the main expected results
