From 3-4 July 2017, IBE-UNESCO is participating in the launch event of “A Resource Pack for Gender-Responsive STEM Education” in Putrajaya, Malaysia, which is co-organized with Ministry of Education of Malaysia (MOE) and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (SEAMEO RECSAM). The resource pack, developed collaboratively with Malaysian officers, curriculum and gender experts and IBE-UNESCO to support the partnering countries of the project (Cambodia, Kenya, Nigeria and Vietnam) as well as Member States in implementing gender-responsive STEM practices, will be officially launched on 3 July by the Deputy Director General of Education YBhg. Datuk Dr. Amin bin Senin followed by Mr. Renato Opertti’s speech on the overview of the project and resource pack.
After the launch event, a two-day workshop will take place to share the Resource Pack with Malaysian stakeholders, mostly comprised of officers from the MOE Divisions, teacher trainers and lecturers. Module writers will introduce it including the overview of the module, conceptual framework, activities and case studies through overarching comprehensive gender lens.
As the phase I of the project enters its conclusive phase, IBE-UNESCO shares deep appreciation to all partnering countries for the impressive progress that they have made. Out of many outstanding outcomes, this resource pack is a fruitful product of a truly South-South corporation and, for this, IBE-UNESCO particularly extends our gratitude for the precious and continuous support of the Malaysian government during the project implementation. IBE-UNESCO looks forward to further partnership with Malaysian government, through which their know-how and experience can continue to be shared with other countries of Member States.
