Most World Heritage sites are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the UNESCO  #ShareOurHeritage campaign, World Heritage site managers from the East Africa region joined site managers from around the world to share information on how they are coping with the crisis.

Site managers from Fort Jesus World Heritage site in Kenya, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, and Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania made videos to share how they are coping with the crisis and its impact on their sites.

Their testimonials join others from around the globe in an effort to share knowledge, experience and resources for coping with the crisis.

UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa is currently developing a project proposal to support youth in the development of apps and other virtual platforms to increase access and information about natural and cultural heritage sites, including World Heritage, RAMSAR and Man and the Biosphere sites .We hope to identify partners to help fund this proposal for implementation after the COVID-19 preventive measures are lifted.

Ms. Ann Theresa Ndong Jatta, Director of UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa

The testimonials will continue to be updated on the following web page: http://whc.unesco.org/en/news/2101.

Their respective testimoniies can be listened to here by clicking on the heritage site.
