The eleventh session of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) is scheduled to be held in Room XI of Fontenoy Building at UNESCO Headquarters on 23 and 24 September 2020 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Further information on the dates and venue may be shared considering ongoing developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The persons appointed by Member States as their representatives on the Council, now composed of 22 Member States, will be participating in this Council Session. According to Article 2 of the Council’s Statutes, representatives shall preferably be specialists in the fields covered by the Information for All Programme.

In accordance with Article 5 of its Statutes, the Council is responsible for guiding the planning and implementation of IFAP. In particular, the Council is required to consider proposals on the development and adaptation of the Programme; recommend the broad lines of action that the Programme could take; review and assess achievements; define the basic areas requiring increased international cooperation; promote participation of Member States in the Programme; and support all fund-raising efforts for its implementation.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided. As per the Council’s Rules of Procedure, any participant may speak in a language other than the working languages on the condition that s/he provides for the interpretation of her/his speech into one of the working languages.
