Improving learning outcomes for reading and writing in the early grades: integration of curriculum, teaching, learning materials and assessment is a three-year project (October 2013 - October 2016) co-coordinated by the International Bureau of Education (UNESCO-IBE) and the Ministries of Education in Burkina Faso, Niger and Senegal.
The partnership, sponsored by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), aims at providing the Ministries of Education with technical assistance in terms of curriculum reforms so as to enhance the quality and effectiveness of reading and writing instruction and acquisition in the first three years of primary education.
As part of the efforts to achieve this objective, a coordination meeting was held on the 13 and 14 October 2015 in Dakar. The UNESCO-IBE was represented by Ms. Amapola Alama, Programme Specialist, and Ms. Aurélie Boulos, Assistant Programme Specialist while Ms. Kadhy Diop, Director of Elementary Education and her team represented the Ministry of Education of Senegal. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and plan activities during the 2015-2016 implementation phase of the project.
