We are launching the
Prototype of a National Curriculum Framework. This document is part of the series
Training Tools for Curriculum Development, with which IBE-UNESCO aims to provide technical assistance and strengthen leadership for education and curriculum reforms.
The
Prototype of a National Curriculum Framework is intended to provide users with a reference for developing a National Curriculum Framework within their own contexts. It presents in a simulated form what can typically be found in a Curriculum Framework. The Prototype is structured into the following sections:
1. Introduction
2. Curriculum Vision
3. Aims and Objectives
4. Values and Principles
5. Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
6. Curriculum Architecture
7. The Importance of Competency
8. Areas of Learning
9. Teaching Methodologies and Strategies
10. Assessment
11. Monitoring and Evaluation
The document draws on our experience in a wide range of countries and regions. It should be read and used as an archetype, to be adjusted to national needs and contexts, as the starting point of the actual Curriculum Framework development.
We invite you to discover the Prototype and participate in the discussion forum to share your expertise and your experience regarding curriculum-related issues in your country. Your comments and experience will contribute to the global dialogue for inclusive and equitable quality education.
