Launch of the 2017 Postgraduate Diploma in Curriculum Design and Development for Arab States

Following the successful launch of the Postgraduate Diploma in Curriculum Design and Development for Arab States in 2016, jointly implemented by the International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO), UNESCO’s Section For Teacher Development and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) with the contribution of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award For Distinguished Academic Performance, the programme is now in preparation for its second sessions.
The Postgraduate Diploma is an innovative approach to capacity building and in-service professional development. It is aimed at professionals in education, in particular curriculum specialists and developers, assessment experts, teacher educators, teachers, school principals, university professors, policy makers, and quality assurance officers. The programme improves curriculum professionals’ competencies in curriculum reform, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

The Diploma is an accredited capacity development programme combining:
  • Two weeks of face-to-face sessions, comprised of workshops, roundtable discussions, school visits and conferences animated by distinguished international and national experts; and
  • Online learning sessions and activities over a period of nine months, with a view to strengthening participants’ capacity to develop and implement quality curricula for all within an international comparative perspective.
The programme is a unique opportunity to reframe the vision of curriculum, education and the society within the SGD 4 and Education 2030 agenda, geared towards “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all”.
