Education plays a key role in responding to climate change and the transition to a lower-carbon lifestyle. If every child enrolled in education could understand the main causes and consequences of climate change, and understand their own impacts as well as the impacts of their communities and families, it could make a big difference. But how can you integrate climate change into school curricula?
The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) is a collaborative initiative of more than 30 multilateral organizations supporting countries to design and implement systematic, recurrent and results-oriented climate change learning. The initiative was launched at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Summit. UN CC: Learn fosters sharing of information, experience and lessons learned in matters of climate change learning.
During the first three year pilot phase (2011‑2013), UN CC:Learn worked in five countries. During the 2014-2017, it worked with additional countries and developed new learning products and upgraded its learning platform.
For the 2017-2020 phase, UN CC:Learn focuses on promoting the importance of climate change education and addressing country demands. Funding for UN CC:Learn is provided by
the Swiss Government and UN partners. The Secretariat for UN CC:Learn is provided by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (
UNITAR).

UN CC:Learn Introductory e-Course on Climate Change: This course provides you with everything you need to know about climate change in only 6 x 2 hours. The course can be found on the
UN CC:Learn e-learning platform.
Library of UN Materials Relevant for Climate Change Learning provides a one stop window to search for and access materials prepared by UN organizations relevant to climate change learning. To date, it contains over 2,000 entries, ranging from training manuals on climate change for health professionals to educational hand books for teachers and students.

UN CC:Learn e-learning platform provides quality e-learning resources on climate change and certificates. Each course builds on the expertise of relevant UN partners. All courses are freely available as a public good, and additional courses will be added over time.

UN CC:Learn Resources Guides for Advanced learning on Climate Change: Resource Guide on:
Integrating Climate Change in Education at Primary and Secondary Level was designed for Malawi, but can be adapted for other countries. The Resource Guide offers existing state-of-the-art material useful for climate change learning. It is divided in 3 parts. The first part introduces the 4 key topics of the guide: Strategies and Policies for Climate Change Education, Integration of Climate Change in School Curricula, Training and Teaching Materials for teachers and Educators, and Safe and Sustainable School Campuses. The second part provides a Guide to Learning resources and Training Courses, and the third part presents factsheets relevant for the guide.
