As part of a project funded by the Wellcome Trust, we held a one-day symposium, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, to discuss priorities for research on relationships and sex education (RSE) in a world where young people increasingly live, experience, and augment their relationships (whethers exual or not) within digital spaces. The introduction of statutory RSE in schools in England highlights the need to focus on improving understandings of young people and digital intimacies for its own sake, and to inform the development of learning resources. …
In August 2017, 14 young people from around England met to discuss what high quality RSE meant to them, along with Brook Ambassador and sex positive vlogger, Hannah Witton. The group included four young men, one young non-binary person and nine young women, aged 15 – 18. 50% of the group identified as LGBT+. The first part of the workshop began with a discussion of what makes good RSE. This was led by Lucy Emmerson, National Coordinator of the Sex Education Forum. …

By combining a literature review of evaluation evidence with in-depth interviews and a global survey targeting young people with the experience of participation, this study opens a new window into the support needs for meaningful youth participation globally. …

Aiming to bring attention to the need for Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and to empower and encourage young leaders to influence their national policies, CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality and YouAct initiated the “Europe for CSE” project, with support from ShareNet. Youth advocates from Cyprus, Georgia, Poland, Romania and the Netherlands joined forces, worked online and met in Amsterdam to set-up concrete advocacy plans at national level, including meetings with volunteers, round tables, online campaigns and reaching out to policy makers and influencers.
