UNESCO IITE launched a new online course “Digital Tools and Services for Teachers” in Russian

To help teachers in their professional development and strengthening their skills in the use of ICT in education, UNESCO IITE launched an open online course “Digital Tools and Services for Teachers” in the Russian language. Based on UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers, the online course is aimed at training teachers to use new educational resources, tools and services in order to build their capacity in the field of innovative technologies and improve the quality of teaching in accordance with the relevant standards of the Russian Federation.

The course covers various legal and regulatory aspects of the use of ICT in the educational system of the Russian Federation, as well as the issues related to the development of digital educational content, and the use of tools and services to support an effective educational process. The materials of the online course include numerous examples and links to specialized systems, applications and services for using and developing electronic educational resources, graphics and infographics, presentations, video content, web quests, interactive exercises, crosswords and quizzes, timelines, tests, etc. In addition, the course explores the latest trends and promising areas in the use of technology in education, basic concepts and definitions of digital technologies in education and technologies for distance education.

The course is based on the materials provided by Dr. Svetlana Panyukova, the laureate of the Russian Federation Government Award in the field of education for a series of works “Computerization of general, professional and additional education of the Russian Federation in health-saving conditions” (2009), the author of more than 150 publications on the theory and practice of computerization of education, educational innovations and inclusive higher education.

The online course is available on Stepik learning platform. Under the condition that the authorship of UNESCO IITE is attributed, the course materials can also be transferred to Moodle learning platform of any educational organization and be used for teacher professional development.

UNESCO IITE invites everyone to register and take the online course “Digital Tools and Services for Teachers”. The possibility of obtaining certificates by participants is presently being discussed with Stepik representatives.
