Inequalities and Youth in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Course "Inequalities and Youth in Latin America and the Caribbean" is an initiative of the UNESCO MOST Program (Management of Social Transformations), and is organized by the UNESCO Regional Office for Sciences for Latin America and the Caribbean, in association with The College of Mexico and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
The MOOC explores the challenges of inequalities associated with youth in our region, and recognizes the importance of addressing them as a key strategy for equitable, inclusive and sustainable development. The region of Latin America and the Caribbean is the most unequal on the planet, and this scourge has a particularly negative impact on young people in our countries. To address these challenges -in an updated, rigorous and transformative way- the organizing entities, with the generous participation of institutions and experts from different latitudes, have decided to join forces and design this awareness-raising and training device, in the form of a free online course, supported by the MiriadaX platform of Telefónica Educación Digital. Using theoretical and practical approaches ─with presentations made by a vast network of experts, strategic reference documents, collaborative production activities, youth experiences throughout the region─ the course presents key issues to understand the complexity of inequalities in reality of the youth of today, as well as to propose transformative pathways in key of participation, social inclusion and human rights.
