It refers to the ethical philosophy of non-violence popularized by one of its greatest champions, Mahatma Gandhi. Introduced in 2016, the Ahinsa Lectures are delivered by leading proponents of peace and non-violence for the benefit of peace builders, policy makers, UNESCO Member States, youth and the international community. The Ahinsa Lecture is organized to mark the International Day of Non-Violence celebrated on 2 October, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth.
