UNESCO - International Bureau of Education Delegation meets President Faure

The President of the Republic, Mr Danny Faure, held a meeting with the Director of UNESCO- International Bureau of Education (IBE), Dr Mmantsetsa Marope and a group UNESCO - IBE Consultants, at State House this morning.
 
The delegation is in Seychelles for follow up mission which they started almost two years ago, whereby they are working in close collaboration with the staff at the Ministry of Education to review the education system and improve various areas such as the curriculum, assessment, research in teacher education, and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), in Seychelles.
 
"On behalf of the people of Seychelles, I would like to express my appreciation for all your efforts in sharing your expertise and wisdom to advance our education system. You came at a time when we requested assistance to review the education system, and you have completed a thorough diagnosis which enable us to improve our system further," said the President.

During the discussions this morning, President Faure was briefed on the latest findings and proposals as well as the next implementation stage in schools. Such implementation is expected to improve the learning outcomes of all students in Seychelles.

For the new programmes to become a success, they delegation also spoke about improving teacher training to better prepare them training.
 
Also present for the meeting was the Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Mrs Jeanne Simeon.
