International Seminar on "Curriculum Innovations, Peace Education and Poverty Alleviation in Sub-Saharan Africa"

Frankfurt, Germany, 24th to the 26th of October 2009.     The main objective of this international seminar in Frankfurt will be to submit a successfully completed version of the toolbox "Preparation for Life and Work in the 21st Century". The toolbox will include all of the comments and feedback received at earlier national workshops. Considerable importance will also be placed on the presentation of the reports of the Angola, Kenya, Mali that conducted pilot tests of the tools.   
The toolkit will support capacity building activities, which promote curricula innovations emphasizing life and work skills and "learning to live together" in basic education.        
This seminar will reunite some thirty participants from 15 countries of sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, South Africa, Botswana, Guinea, Kenya, Malawi, and Senegal), as well as international experts, UNESCO-IBE and GTZ/BMZ.   
The seminar is jointly organized by the International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO) and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
