Technology from early childhood

In 2010 IITE started a new project devoted to ICT application in preschool education. Within the project IITE is planning to develop and publish a survey “ICTs in preschool education: best practices and policy recommendations”.

Moscow has been chosen as a place for project implementation, as the city has got positive experience in the use of ICTs in kindergartens, possesses well-developed technological infrastructure, including computer equipment and Internet access in preschool settings. In addition, the Moscow Government and UNESCO are already implementing the joint project “Moscow Education: from Infancy to School”, with “ICTs in preschool education” among its lines of actions.

On 12 -15 May 2010 Prof. Kalas, (Department of Informatics Education, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University, Slovakia), previously nominated by IITE as an international expert under the project, visited Moscow with a purpose to get acquainted with the local experience and advanced methods of ICT usage in the Moscow kindergartens. The programme of the visit was developed by IITE in cooperation with the Moscow Education Department and included attendance of four preschool education settings.

Prof. Kalas was satisfied with the results of his visit to Moscow. His report will be included into the survey which will be presented at the World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education (WCECCE) to be held from 27 to 29 September 2010 in Moscow.
